Katrina Wells Counts, 87, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the E.T. York Haven Hospice Facility in Gainesville, FL following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Horace V. and Dorothy Overall Wells and is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Counts, and a daughter, Katrina Rene' Cordell, and three sisters, Dorothy Cunningham, Natalie Smith, and Nancy Townsend.

She was a dedicated educator who taught for over twenty years in the Columbia County School System at Eastside Elementary. She inspired countless students throughout her teaching career. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing golf, and bridge, and rooting for her favorite teams. Katrina was a devoted member of Parkview Baptist Church in Lake City where she led bible studies and taught Sunday school. For many years, she was an active member of the Jamaican Mission Team, serving both in person and later supporting from home. When she moved to Gainesville, she became a member of Grace Baptist Church. Katrina was known for her laugh and smile, which joyfully reflected her faith each day.

Katrina is survived by her daughter Natalie Kennedy (Kenneth) Lake Park, GA; son Stephen Counts (Marcie) Cookeville, TN; a son-in-law Marty Cordell, Orlando, FL; two grandchildren Katelyn Cordell and Glenn Cordell (Amber); great-grandchild Carina Renee Cordell; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Katrina will be conducted Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Parkview Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Tatem officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service at the church. The interment will take place in Maryville, TN at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Parkview Baptist Church, 268 NW Lake Jeffery Rd, Lake City, FL 32055for "Jamaican Missions."
