Obituary

June North Epperson, 88, of Lake City, Florida, passed on to meet her Savior on September 18, 2014, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Born on June 27, 1926, June was the daughter of the late Clayton and Carrie North, and was married to the late Douglas H. Epperson for 69 years.

June was a longtime resident of Lake City and a member of the 1st Baptist Church for more than 50 years and enjoyed singing in the choir for many of those years. We know she is singing in the Heavenly Choir now. June was active in her community both as a successful businesswoman and as a member of the Columbia County School Board for 12 years. She had a beautiful voice and entertained often at the Woman's' Club where she was a member. June loved to fish and enjoyed her annual trip to the Keys with her family. After retirement from a career as a real estate broker, she devoted her time to a new business, The Doll Cottage, where she made beautiful porcelain dolls. She was known for her cooking and spent many hours preparing and delivering meals to her friends. June had a wonderful, caring, and generous nature.

June's greatest source of pleasure and sense of accomplishment was in her 5 children. She was a loving mother who raised strong, independent children and instilled in them a good work ethic. She led by her example of strength of character and integrity. Her indomitable spirit and legacy will live on in those who loved her so well. She is survived by her children, Carol (Dale) Price; Cheryl (Gary) Copps; Bill (Crystal) Epperson; Susan (Steve) Czeiszperger; and Elizabeth (Bernerd) Black; a loving and devoted sister, Mary Emma; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family was blessed to have had their loved one cared for her last 2 years of illness by a special nephew, Bernerd, and her grandson, Austin. For this they will be eternally grateful.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cindy, Amanda, and Anna, the Hospice nurses, for the comfort and support provided for both June and her family in her last days.

The family will hold a private memorial service where they will celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, they ask that you make donations to the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, Florida, 32064 and/or Hospice of Citrus County of the Nature Coast, 857 SW Main Blvd., Lake City, FL 32025. Arrangements are under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S. HWY 441, Lake City, FL.
