Joseph P. Hebert, 90 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center. He was born in Chacahoula, Louisianna to the late Emanuel and Aline Breaux Hebert. Mr. Hebert had made Lake City his home since the 1960's. He had lived in numerous places during his service in the United States Army and would often remark, "a country boy in the middle of New York City". His service began when he was 16 years old and he completed his basic training at Fort Jackson and he retired in 1969. He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 siblings; a wife, Dorothy Hebert; his daughter, Lisa (Hebert) Justice; and his step-daughter, Dollies Tice.
Survivors include his wife, Mary F. Benton Hebert, Lake City; sons, Joe Jr., Oregon and Tommy Benton, Lake City; step-son, Robert Tice; Ten grandchildren, Samuel Benton (Megan), Lake City, Ashley Benton, Lake City, Jared Benton, Lake Butler, Rachael & Michelle Justice, Jesse, Dillon, Carri (McCrary), Adam Tice & Suzanne Carter; and Nine great-grandchildren, Samuel Jr., Chase, Koda, Ethan Tice, Saben Tice, Lily Tice, Nicholas Tice, Leo Tice & Jordan McCrary.
Funeral services for Mr. Hebert will be conducted on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Watertown Congregational Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Ogburn officiating. Interment will follow at Williams Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
