Joseph Franklin Hammond

Joseph Franklin Hammond died on Thursday. June 18th, 2026 at his last home in Athens, Georgia. He was born in Columbia, SC to Wade H and Mildred Varnes Hammond on Feb 8, 1946. Joe was predeceased by his beloved sisters Betty Hammond Keefe (Billy Keefe Sr) of W. Columbia and Mildred Hammond Rivers (Dean Rivers) of Blythewood and brother Wade H Hammond Jr (Ruth Whisennant) of Lexington.

Joe was employed as a journeyman electrician and E&I Tech and worked projects all over the US. He was a longtime resident of the Columbia/Lexington SC area until his health necessitated a move to Georgia to be near his surviving family. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman.

Joe was survived by his wife of 45 years Dianne S Hammond; daughter Stephanie H Stalnaker (Jade); grandchildren Claire A Stalnaker and Joseph Carter Stalnaker. Joe was blessed with a large and extended family with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
