Obituary

Joseph Bascom "Joe" Jordan, 77, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2024, at the Bedrock Rehab and Nursing Facility in Lake City, after an extended illness. He was born in Lake City on October 25, 1946, to the late Joseph Bascom Jordan and Hazel Levon Cumbess.

Jordan, grew up on his beloved family farm, north of White Springs, where his heart always lived.

After graduating from Columbia High School in 1965, where he was quarterback for the CHS Tigers, he graduated from Florida State  University and was always an avid Seminoles fan. He later earned an MBA degree from the University of North Florida.

He worked for the Florida Department of Transportation for 49 years, retiring as Right of Way Manager in December 2023. In addition to the FDOT and the Seminoles, music was his passion. He was a founding member and lead singer of The Jades band. In recent years, he was the lead singer of the FDOT  band, the D2-Ers.

Deeply involved with St. James Episcopal Church, he served multiple terms as Senior Warden, and took on many other important Parish and Diocesan responsibilities.  In his younger years, he enjoyed running and completed several full marathons. He also served as a White Springs Volunteer Fire Fighter for over three years.

He is survived by his wife, Patti Hanna Jordan, of Lake City; son, Joby Jordan (Leslie Norris) of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Eli Jordan, Graycie Bryant and Brylen Bryant; Niece and nephew, Jessica Amber Ring of Leesburg and Trey Allen of Lampasas, TX; cousin, Wayne Jordan and other cousins; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Ann Allen.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, June 27,2024, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S. US HWY 441, Lake City, FL, 32025, 386-752-1954.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., at St. James Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in White Springs.
