Mr. John Wendle Nettles, 86, of Lake City passed away at his home in Lake City on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. A native and lifelong resident of Lake City he was the son of John Wilbur and Inez Thomas Nettles. Mr. Nettles retired from The Florida Department of Transportation in Lake City after 43 years working in the soil lab. A lifelong farmer, he took great pride in his pine tree farm and spent many years cultivating and caring for it. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Westerns. Mr. Nettles loved his family and his church family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He was preceded in death by his sons, Scott Rae Nettles, Gregory W. Nettles, Larry John Nettles, and Michael Wendle Nettles, and his beloved wife Celia Blanche Nettles in 2023.
Mr. Nettles is survived by his son, Andy Nettles (Lisa); grandchildren, Travis Nettles, Tyson Nettles, Andrew Nettles (Caroline), Lauren Nettles (Ben Sadler), Haley Nettles, Jackson Nettles, Branden Parrish (Chelsea), Brittney McGee (Travis), Greg Nettles (Ashley) and Chelsee Nettles; 17 great grandchildren; and his two daughter-in-law's, Pam and Dee Nettles also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Nettles will be conducted at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints- Cannon Creek Ward on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation with the family will be held one hour before services at the church. (10:00-11:00 A.M.). Interment will follow services at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake Butler.
