Mr. John Parks Higgins, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice), following an extended illness. He is the son of the late John and Louise Parks Higgins. He had made Lake City his home for the past fifty-one years after moving here from Alabama and was a member of Hopeful Baptist church and enjoyed snow skiing, white water rafting, hunting, fishing, building things and just being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of forty-five years Anna Jean Higgins, Lake City, FL; one son Jody Wheeler (Denise) Lake City, FL, two daughters Sandy Brink (Donny) Lake City, FL, Rose Edwards (Jason) Tallapoosa, GA; two brothers Bill Higgins (Barbara) Auburn, AL; and Richard Higgins, Huntsville, AL; one sister Melinda Higgins (Kippy) New Hope, AL. His sister-in-law, Patricia Thomas (Howard), Lake City, FL, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Lake City, FL.
