Joel Willis Rowland, 77, of Lake City, passed away on Monday morning, February 17, 2025. He was born in Hillsborough County, Florida on November 2, 1947 to the late Willis Oscar Rowland and May Ola Mitchell Rowland. He has made Lake City his home since 2020, moving here from the Plant City area. He was a United States Navy Veteran; and also owned and operated Seashore Granite & Stone for a number of years before retiring and moving to Lake City, where he went to work for Home Depot. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and flying. He had his Pilot's license which he kept active and even owned his own plane, a Cessna 182 at one point. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Mitchell & Michael Rowland, and his half-brother, David Mitchell.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Melissa Rowland of Lake City; and his step-daughters, Zoe Cori & Bianca Cori both of Gainesville and Miranda Gentle of Palmetto, FL. Several extended family members and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Rowland will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church, 388 SE Baya Ave, Lake City, FL 32025, with Pastor Richard Rodriguez officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
