Joann Thomas Calloway, 91, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday morning, June 6, 2024, with her family by her side, after an extended illness. She was born in Plant City, Florida on March 4, 1933 to the late Newton Thomas and Nancy Sowell Thomas. She has made the Lake City area her home since the early 1970's, moving here from the Wauchula County area. She retired from the Columbia County School District, where she worked in Food Service; and in her spare time, she enjoyed reading her bible, listening to gospel music and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Billy Calloway; her sons, George and Calvin Calloway; five brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her son, Jim Daryl Calloway of Lake City; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Calloway will be conducted on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Lake Dale Baptist Church Cemetery in Wauchula, FL. Interment will follow.
