Joan Morgen Rountree, 93, of Lake City, Florida, passed away on January 11, 2025.  Joan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was funny and had the gift of making people laugh. Joan was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church; served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, volunteered at the public library and Lake Shore Hospital, and also served on the board for Haven Hospice. She was an avid Bridge player, enjoyed playing Bunco, and was a devoted Florida Gator fan. Her bright energy will be missed.

Joan was born in Kansas City, MO in 1931. She grew up in Gainesville, FL, graduated from PK Yonge High School and Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. Joan met Jack Rountree in Washington D.C., and married in 1954 and moved to Lake City.

Preceding Joan in death was her husband, Jack, parents Ralph & Vera Morgen, and her brother Ralph Anthony Morgen.

She is survived by daughters, Beth R. Owens (Martin) of Alpharetta, GA, and Susan R. Hall of Lake City. Four grandchildren, Hannah Love, Katie Hall Futch (Aaron) of Seattle, WA; Erin Owens Gregoire (Chris) of Scarborough, ME; and Kelly Owens of Alpharetta, GA. Six great-grandchildren, Mason, Briannah, Andrew, Madeleine, Ellie Joan, and Ezra; Nieces and Nephews, Kathy Wagoner, Andrew Moore (Linda), John Wolf, Mary Ross (Ralph), and Bruce Morgen (Diane).

Memorial Services for Mrs. Rountree will be conducted on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City with the Rev. Ken Goodrich officiating. A reception will follow the memorial at the Church Fellowship Hall and all friends and family are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O.
