Jimmy Ray Greene, Sr., 75, of Lake City, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 20, 2025 at the HCA Florida – Lake City Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Rutherfordton, NC to the late William Lee Greene, Jr. and Leona Arrowood Smith. He has made Lake City his home since 1975, moving here from North Carolina. He was a US Army Veteran; and also was a retired painter. He also worked for AREO/TIMCO for a little over twelve years, as well as worked with the Florida Department of Corrections for a little over 10 years; He also worked for Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, working with and tinkering on computers and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his loving wife of over 30 years, Mary Frances Greene; brothers, David Greene & Robert Smith; and his sister, Linda Greene.

He is survived by his two children, Connie Kirby (Marvin) & Jimmy Ray Greene, Jr. (Judy) both of Lake City; step-son, Jimmy Williams of Lake City; brothers, John W. Greene of Massachusetts & Eddie Greene (Karon) of Virginia; and his sister, Sissy Sawyer of Port St. Lucie, FL. Nine grandchildren, Jeffery McDowell, Tiffany Gamble, Allen Louden, Jr., Kimberlee Greene (Garrett), Breanna Lord (Justin), Jennie Cruz (Brandon), Crystal Sexton (David), David Weeks (Jennifer) and Dalton Williams; Nineteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews along with special friends, John, Michael, Gary, Michelle and Lisa also survive.

A funeral service for Mr. Greene will be conducted on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Bass and Pastor Carl Chauncey officiating. A private family interment service will follow. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
