IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmy Clayton
Boutwell
February 14, 1936 – March 12, 2025
Jimmy Clayton Boutwell, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, after a long battle with illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 14, 1936, in Brewster, Florida, to the late John Clayton (JC) Boutwell and Nell Galbraith Boutwell.
Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army for two years before beginning a career as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in the Phosphate Industry. He worked at both Brewster Phosphate Mine and Occidental Chemical Company, contributing his expertise and dedication for many years.
A passionate supporter of his local teams, Jimmy was an avid fan of the Florida Gators and the Columbia High Tigers. He rarely missed a sporting event, always cheering on his teams with boundless enthusiasm. In addition to his love for sports, Jimmy was an accomplished bowler who cherished his friendships with teammates, often traveling and sharing laughter and camaraderie.
Above all, Jimmy was deeply proud of his family. He took great joy in attending the sporting events, school activities, and milestones of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did, and he was always the loudest and most devoted fan in the stands.
Jimmy had a love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, traveling, and making memories with his loved ones. One of his most treasured traditions was the annual Boutwell family reunion on the Weeki Wachee River, a highlight of each year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sue Stavley Wallace; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mangrum; and his grandson, Brad Jordan Hunter.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 66 years, Clarice Boutwell, who lovingly cared for him throughout his illness. He is also survived by his three daughters, all of Lake City, FL: Cheri Lucas, Tammy Hall (Sam), and Paige Sessions (Barry). He was blessed with six grandchildren: Brian Lucas, Kevin Lucas, Aaron Hall (Danyel), Eric Hall (Wendy), Dylan Sessions (Katie), and Darby Sessions. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his brother-in-law, Clarence Prine (Anna) of Murfreesboro, TN.
