Jesse Daniel "Danny" Thomas, 71 of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Lake Butler, Florida.  Mr. Thomas was born in Lake City, Florida to the late Jesse Thomas and Shirley Witt Thomas.  He was a lifelong resident of the Lake City and Lake Butler communities and was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1971.  Mr. Thomas served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City.  He worked in the logging industry for 38 years with Shadd Enterprises in Lake Butler.  Mr. Thomas enjoyed deer hunting and running his hunting dogs, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Debbie Cook Thomas, Lake Butler; four children, Witt Daniel Thomas (Hallie), Lake Butler, Cailey Thomas (Brett), Brooker, Jodi Garcia (Danny), Ocala and Mary Garrett (Levi), Lake Butler; one sister, Donna Giebeig (Hugh), Lake City;  and six grandchildren, Kendal, Emma, Layla, Norah, Keaton and Hadley.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be conducted on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Paul O'Steen of Sardis Baptist Church in Worthington Springs officiating.  Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Lake City.  A time of visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
