Obituary

Mr. Jerry Lee Dennison, 74, of Lake City went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2015 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center after a long illness. Jerry was born in Winter Haven, FL to J.C. and Ruth Willis Dennison on August 30, 1941. His family split their time between Winter Haven and their farm in Gilchrist County. He graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1959 and joined the Army becoming a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. After military service, Jerry joined Eckerd Drugs. He moved to Texas when Eckerds bought out a large drugstore chain and became Operations Manager for Dallas Division. While in Dallas, his lifelong love of the water led him to buy Flowing Wells, a marina and fishing resort on Lake Texoma. In 1983 the family moved back to Florida and a few years later, he opened Photos 'N A Flash in Lake City. He was a 5th generation Floridian with ancestors participating in the Battle of Olustee. He took up sailing and attained his captain's license. Jerry was never happier than when on the water. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake City.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jeffrey Dennison, and his brother Jim Dennison. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice) for their excellent care of Jerry and the family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Kitty; son Jasper (Michele); daughter Brandye; brothers, Mark (Kay), and David (Sherry); sister-in-law, Elisa; grandchildren, Dallas and Shelby, Ashlye, Sandy, and Devin, Matthew and Jackson. Twenty nieces and nephews also survive as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake City with the Rev. Dr. Cynthia M. Benz officiating. A reception and visitation will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 US HWY 90 West, Lake City, FL 32055 or First Presbyterian Church, 697 SW Baya Drive, Lake City, FL 32025.
