IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Carr
Klay
June 15, 1951 – March 21, 2021
Jean Carr Klay passed away Sunday March 21 after a valiant battle against cancer. She joins her beloved parents L.D. & Roxie Carr and her dear brother in law Elmer Wheeler. She worked for many years at the North Florida Surgery Center and Gateway Surgical Center. She fought hard until the end and was very proud that after given 10 months to live she survived 33. The first thing she said at every doctors visit was 'yep, it's me, I'm still here'. Her sense of humor was one of her greatest gifts and she loved making people laugh. Her kindness was immeasurable and even throughout her illness wanted to be a blessing to others. She also had a deeply spiritual side and loved watching her favorite ministers T.D. Jakes and Joyce Meyer. She was an army wife for over 20 years and got to see more of the world than she ever thought a little country girl from Lake City ever would, even living in Europe. Her family meant everything to her and she loved each of them so very much. She will be deeply missed but she frequently said she plans to visit us often.
She leaves behind one son David Klay. Daughter Wendy Klay Holmes, two grandsons Steffon (Amber) Holmes & Trace Young. Sisters Judy Wheeler & Gail (Sammy) Nettles and one brother Rocky (Kathy) Moody. She also loved her nieces and nephews: Angie (Charles) Neeley, Scott (Kim) Wheeler, Troy (Tiffany) Cason, Sam (Lacey) Cason and Kailyn and Brock Moody. She has numerous great nephews and nieces as well.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Friday April 2, 2021 from 5-7 P.M. at Gateway- Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
