Jason Matthew Bauer, 47, of Lake City, passed away on Monday morning, October 9, 2023 after a sudden illness. He was born on January 20, 1976, and has made Lake City his home for the last several years, moving here from the Tampa/St. Pete area. He was very active in the Special Olympics and enjoyed swimming, bowling, basketball, and BMX riding with his brother. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his dad as well as 4-wheelers. He is preceded in death by his mother, Susan M. Bauer.

He is survived by his father, John Bauer; brother, Jeremy Bauer (Stacy Stone); niece and nephews, Maryah Rodrigues, Hunter Bauer and Tyler Bauer. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Robert and Soli Young, who were Jason's caregivers and provided the best comfort they knew how to him.

A celebration of life service for Jason will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Lake City Country Club, 717 NW Fairway Dr. Lake City, FL. 32055. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
