"Ronny" Minchin
May 13, 1940 – July 11, 2021
James R. "Ronny" Minchin, 81 of Lake City, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Mr. Minchin was one of two sons to the late Julius Collier Minchin and Jessie Ruth Arnold Minchin. He was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1958. Mr. Minchin furthered his education at both the St. Petersburg Junior College and Florida State University.
He learned a lot from both his parents by hanging around his father's restaurant "Robert Arnolds" or from his mother's service to many in Lake City as a registered nurse for many years. Mr. Minchin served the City of Lake City for over 40 years as the city clerk and various other positions. Following his retirement with the city, Mr. Minchin helped his family with their business endeavors. Mr. Minchin was raised in the First Baptist Church of Lake City and had been a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Lake City and the Lake City Christian Church. He was an avid coin collector and loved helping his family. Mr. Minchin was a devoted husband to his late wife of 51 years, Barbara J. Minchin, and a loving father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lisa Corine "Cori" Minchin.
Survivors include his daughter, Jacqueline Joelynn "Joelie" Minchin, Lake City; his son, James R. "Jamie" Minchin, II, Lake City; his brother, Robert A. "Bobby" Minchin (Maggie), Woodstock, GA; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Clark, James R. "Jamie" Minchin, III and Kori Laine Minchin; and two great grandchildren, Olivia Jenaveive Raulerson and Kai Logan Raulerson, all of Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery. Private visitation for the immediate family will be prior to the service.
