MOORE, JAMES
Mr. James " Jim" Moore, 89, of Lake City FL, died Saturday June 12, 2010 at Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City. He was born in Barberton, Ohio. He is the son of the late Jacob A. and Florence Hewig Moore. In 1947 he joined with A.J. Rountree in the automobile dealership now known as Rountree-Moore Ford. He served with the Ford and Lincoln-Mercury Dealer Councils. In 1965 he started J&M Grassing Company before returning to his love of selling cars. He served faithfully in different offices on the boards of the Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce, Boy's Club, United Way, Barnett Bank and was President & Vice President of Suwannee Swifty, a large convenience store chain.
Moore served as a member of the City Council of Lake City.
He was a founding member of the Lake City Country Club and was a member of multiple civic organizations such as the Moose Lodge, The Kiwanis, Elks and the local VFW. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake City.
During World War II he served as a pilot in the US Navy Air Corps and was injured in action during the Aleutian campaign.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 63 years, Susan Rountree Moore, Lake City, FL; one son, Andrew T."Andy" Moore, (Linda); Lake City FL; one daughter Katherine M. Wagoner, Port Angeles, Washington. Two grandchildren, James Grady Moore, Katherine M. Beroset (John); one great-grandchild Andrew Beroset.
Memorial Services for Mr. Moore will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:00P.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Lake City,with the Reverend James Montgomery officiating. There will be a reception to follow the service at the fellowship hall.
