Mr. James H Johnston Jr, "Jim" passed away on June 19th at his home after an extended battle with dementia.   He is the son of the late James H and Martha Johnston Sr.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Johnston Minchin (Ronnie).  Jim is survived by his sister, Nancy Johnston (Frankie) Crews of Lake City, son, James H (Janet) Johnston III of Lake City, his daughter, DaLee Johnston (Lee) Kicker of Kingwood, TX, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; along with his long time caregiver, Donna Duncan.

Jim spent his formative years in Largo, FL where he graduated from Largo High School in 1959.  Jim was very active in High School as president of his class and attended Boys State his Sr. year.

Jim was both a Seminole and a Gator with a BA from FSU and a master's from Florida.  He loved representing both schools, sometimes at the same time!

Jim was a CPA by trade and practiced in Lake City for 40 plus years. During retirement he traveled the USA in his motorcoach, even drove from Lake City to Alaska. He was active in Eastern Star, a Mason and a longtime member of the Lake City Elks Club.

A funeral service for Mr. Johnston will be conducted on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday evening, June 23, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
