Edgar North, Jr.

James Edgar North Jr, 77 passed away on Friday, the 23rd of August 2024. James (lovingly referred to as Jimmy) was the only son of James Edgar North Sr. and Jean Gwendolyn North originally of Lake City, Florida and later settled in Hialeah, Florida. James graduated from Hialeah High School in 1965 and he then went on to earn his Associates of Arts Degree from Miami-Dade Community College. From there, he served in the United States Army and was deployed to the Vietnam War where he was wounded and became a Purple Heart recipient. Following his deployment, he returned home to follow in his Uncle Max's footsteps where he began his career with the Miami-Dade Court System in 1973. Upon his retirement in 1998, James and his Wife moved to Lake City, Florida from Hialeah. Jimmy was a devoted Christian and participated in various ministries, including Kairos Prison Ministries. This was special considering his career with the Miami-Dade County Court system. In Lake City, he was also a member of both Evangel Church of God and The Orchard Community Church. Jimmy enjoyed staying physically fit, was a collector and builder of model trains, a sculptor of clay animals, enjoyed birdwatching, spending quality time with the family canines, and going on adventures around the world with his soulmate and family. James was preceeded in death by his soulmate, Marilyn Jean North. Their marriage lasted 54 years during which they created a beautiful life together. He is survived by their son, Eric Bruce North and his wife Jessica Duran North of Davie, Florida. He is also survived by Wilda Drawdy of Lake City, Florida., and his granddaughters Grace Whitney Drawdy, Julia Dee North and Emma Rae North. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, the 27th of August 2024, at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm. There will also be a graveside service on the 28th of August 2024 at 11:30 A.M., at the Jacksonville National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Road Jacksonville, Florida 32218 with military honors, and he will be buried and reunited with Marilyn.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that monetary donations be made to a single GoFundMe account. The proceeds of this account will go towards the benefit of Big Dog Ranch Rescue's Dog Training Program.
