Mr. James Richard Cox, 70 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  He was born in Neon, Kentucky to the late James and Helen Cox and had made his home in Lake City since 1999 having previously lived in Jasper, FL and Beattyville, KY.  Mr. Cox was the owner and operator of C&S Construction in Lake City from 1993 to 2008.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and rebuilding boats.  Mr. Cox was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Lakeview Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, LaVonne Cox; two sons, Verlin Cox (Deanna) and Richard Evan Cox; one daughter, Andrea Cox all of Lake City; one brother, Darrell Cox (Beth), Columbus, OH; two grandchildren, Owen and Seth Cox both of Lake City.

Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Derek Long officiating.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 5-6:00 pm.
