James H. "Buck" Hill, 84 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  He was born and raised in Lake City to the late James Hamilton Hill and Gladys Waldron Hill.  Mr. Hill was a graduate of Columbia High School and a veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Hill was a longtime resident of Live Oak and worked for almost 40 years with the Post Office in Live Oak.  He was of the Baptist faith and former member and deacon at Rocky Sink Baptist Church in Live Oak and was currently a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Lake City.  Mr. Hill was an avid Florida Gator fan and loved to play golf every chance he got.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Joanne Lee, Gene Hill and Diane Winkleman; and his step-daughter, Deanna Carter Breeden.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Hill, Lake City; three children, Dawna Hill, Lake City, Mike Hill (Michelle), Gainesville and Linda Thompson, Live Oak; step-son, Clay Carter (Christina), Wellborn; sister, Glenda McCall (Gaston), Lake City; seven grandchildren, Hailey Mayo, Joshua Beattie, Jackson Thompson, Maxx Hill, Gracie Hill, Damien Carter and Dylan Breeden; and four great-grandchildren, Shawn, Stetson, Anna and Trudy.

Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be conducted on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Phillips officiating.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery.  A time of visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
