J. D. Payne, 86, of Lake City, FL, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, FL, following an extended illness. A native of Maple Valley, Michigan, Mr. Payne had lived in Lake City since 1969. He had worked as a service manager at Champion Mobile Homes and loved farming and animals. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death: by his parents, Floyd Payne, Sr. and Bessie Hillman Payne; his loving wife of 55 years, Doris E. Payne in 2002, and a daughter, Debra Chaney.
Mr. Payne is survived by: one son, Jerri Payne (Paula), Lake City, FL; one daughter: Judy Davidson (Ray), Inverness, FL; one brother: Cliff Payne (Deloris), Metamora, MI; eight grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Payne will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, October 26, 2012, in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lynwood Walters officiating. Interment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery, Lake City, Florida. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service (1 P.M. to 2 P.M.).
