In Starkville, MS, on Friday, January 21, 2022, Inez Greene Mathis, age 93 was received home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A graveside celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Corinth Church, Lake City FL, Visitation will be graveside from 1:00 pm until service time.  Rev. Inez Greene Mathis was born April 10, 1928 in Lake City, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Allie and Henry "Hicky" Greene, her husband of 53 years, Leon H. Mathis, Jr., her sons Donald Edward Whitehead, Jr. "Eddie" and Michael Ray Whitehead "Mike".  She is survived by her sister, Ernestine Saunders, Lake City, FL a nephew Richard Saunders, Lake City, FL, her daughters, Nancy Whitehead Martin, Starkville, MS, and Rhonda Mathis Shotts (Charles), Louisville, MS and her sons, Leon H. Mathis, III "Matt" and Mark Lee Mathis, Starkville, MS.  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren Rebecca Tucker (Dave), Laurel Scobee (Nick), Ryan Shotts (Katie), Caleb Mathis, Seth Mathis and Paul Mathis and 5 great grandchildren.

Inez was born and raised in Lake City, FL, attended Columbia High School where she was a member of the basketball team.  She was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church, Lake City, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, RA's, GA's and WMU.  She was also very active in the community, CHS Band Association, PTA, Women's Club, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  She continued her service to First Baptist Church in Starkville, MS, teaching Sunday School, WMU, Foreign Missions and delivering flowers to members unable to attend services.  Inez touched many lives and will be truly missed.
