Hugh Alfred Buie Jr. (Al) passed away October 26th, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville. Al was born and raised in Lake City, FL where he was an active choir member and deacon of Parkview Baptist Church and a pillar of the community. He was a Vietnam veteran in the Army and after returning from Vietnam became a local business owner of Industrial Painting Corporation.

Al was a beloved husband, father, brother, and new grandfather. He loved his family and always did what he could to help them and provide for them. He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with, helping out anyone that was in need.

Al is was preceded in death by his parents Margie Buie and Hugh Alfred Buie Sr. and his in-laws Hubert and Edna Williams. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Virginia (Jenny), his daughter Allison Buie Thomas (Caleb), son Hugh Alfred Buie III (Trey), and granddaughter Hannah Faith Thomas. He is also survived by 4 sisters Suzanne MacDonald, Barbara (Bob) Roberts, Julie (Mike) Branch, and Carol (Jay) Jackson and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mr. Buie will be conducted on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Parkview Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Tatem officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening, October 29, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
