Horace A. Williams, 99, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 29, 2021 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in St. Pete, Florida on February 9, 1922 to the late George Washington Williams and Beulah Turner Williams. He has lived most of his life in the Lake City area and was a World War II and Korea Navy Veteran. He worked for Gurden Trailer Plant, then a short stint with AREO Corporation, then worked in the construction industry for a while before going to work for the Division Hospital where he retired from. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and building toys and working on lawn mowers and cars; He loved the Lord with all his heart. He is preceded in death by his son, Buddy Williams; daughter, Tracy Williams, granddaughter, Ashley Shallar and great-granddaughter, Kalyn Harris.
He is survived by his sons, George and Danny Williams both of Lake City; daughters, Elizabeth Nims (Johnny) of Lake City and Renae Williams (Buddy Smith) of Providence. Ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00 A.M in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Norman officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Shriner's Hospital.
