Mrs. Hilda C. Luke, 80, of Lake City died Saturday, December 03, 2011, at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center. A native of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Luke was the daughter of the late Hyatt and Abby Hearn Copeland and had lived in Shreveport, LA before moving to Lake City in 1981. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the Ruth Sunday School Class, Past President of the United Methodist Women, and was a member of the Sunshine Circle of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Luke was also a member of the Lake City Garden Club, the Friday Bridge Club, and enjoyed playing the piano. Mrs. Luke was preceded in death by her husband Colonel Guy D. Luke in January 2011.
Mrs. Luke is survived by her daughters, Carol L. Hammar, and Kathy W. Calvert (Keith) both of Allen, TX; grandchildren, Jason L. Ekberg (Kerry) of China, Aaron D. Shropshire of Plano, TX, and Austin L. Hammar (Shannon) of Allen, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Luke will be conducted on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 9:30A.M. at First United Methodist Church in Lake City with Reverend Jeff Tate officiating. Interment will be held at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church-Building Fund, 973 S. Marion Ave., Lake City, FL 32025, or to Haven Hospice-Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 W.
