Hilda G Collins, 70 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at her home.  She was born in Hollywood, Florida, the youngest of seven children, to the late Marvin Foy Goodman and Gertha Ming Goodman.  Mrs. Collins had made Lake City her home since 2004 and had previously been a longtime resident of Okeechobee, Florida.  She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.  Mrs. Collins was a registered nurse and worked for many years at the Lake City Medical Center and for the Department of Corrections, Hamilton CI in Jasper where she was known as "Mama C".  She was most recently working as a nursing instructor at Twin Oaks in Live Oak.  Mrs. Collins loved gardening, collecting antiques and spending time with her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne A. Collins, Lake City; her daughter, Kellie Annette Collins Boyles (Bryant), Lake City; her son, Corey Allen Collins (Tiffany), Richmond, VA; one sister, Linda Summers (Bruce), Brookeville, MD; five grandchildren, Kade Collins and Callie Collins both of Richmond, VA, Haley McCarthy (Daniel), Jared Boyles (Makenna), Elijah Boyles and Violet Boyles all of Lake City.

A memorial service honoring her life will be conducted on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Burl Harkey of Northside Baptist Church officiating.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
