Henry Elmer Cantrell, 97 of Lake City, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Whitewood, Virginia to the late Joseph Samuel Cantrell and Arminda Jane Boyd Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell was a graduate of Whitewood High School and he later earned his Bachelor Degree in 1965 from Detroit Bible College. He served our country during the Korean War in the United States Army. Mr. Cantrell went on to work and retired from Ford Motor Company in 1992 with 24 years of employment. He had made his home in Lake City for the past 25 years and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Suwannee County. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, eating and following sports. Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glory Ann Cantrell; and 10 siblings.
Survivors include his children, Daniel Joseph Cantrell (Michelle), MI, Deborah Ruth Wass (Curt), Wayne, MI, David Henry Cantrell, Lake City and Dawn Ann Slocum (Tom), Edwardsburg, MI; seven grandchildren, Shirley, Stephanie, Daniel Jr., Sidney, Eric, Danielle and Samantha; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service honoring Mr. Cantrell's life will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 5:30 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church of Suwannee County, 17077 SW Sabre Ave., Lake City, FL 32024, with Bro. Alex Gonzales officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
