Helmy W. Ehrler, 82, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday evening, March 18, 2021 at the Lake City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Köln, Germany on August 10, 1938 to the late Jakob and Sophie Pilgrim. She has made Lake City her home since 1980, moving here from Canada. She worked as a banker in San Francisco, California for a short while before moving to Canada, where she and her family farmed for a several years. When she moved to Lake City, she owned a farm and ran a Safe Haven for Horses. She and her family were members of Epiphany Catholic Church here in Lake City. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors, swimming, caring for her horses, dancing and going to the rodeo. She is preceded in death by one sibling.

She is survived by her sons, Lorenz (Victoria) Ehrler of Lake City and Arvin Ehrler of Gainesville; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Jakob Ehrler. Also, her beloved dog a rottweiler named Rocky. Many extended family and friends also survive.

A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Ehrler will be conducted on April 24, 2021 at 11AM at Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
