Passberger
November 8, 1942 – March 24, 2024
Mr. Helmut Otto Passberger, 81, was born in Germany on November 11, 1942, as the youngest of four siblings. At the age of eighteen, he was sponsored to come to the United States and live in Wisconsin. He later moved to Tampa, Florida to be with his brother, Gary. Where he would later meet his future wife Joan through mutual friends, and they would later marry on September 9, 1979. In 1980 they welcomed a daughter, who would be their only child. Helmut is preceded in death by Isiah Griffin, III. and his brother Ludwick (Germany).
While in the States Helmut became an airplane mechanic and found his love for flying, in which he later obtained his pilot's license. He worked for Piper Airlines for many years in Southern Florida before moving his family to Northern Florida to pursue his career at the then-known Aero Corporation. As the aviation industry proved to be unstable at the time he went back to school to be a truck driver. He later retired from Anderson Columbia as a truck driver.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed working in the yard, going to the gym, taking his granddaughter Karissa to the park, and spending time on the computer on his beloved Flight Simulator Program or on Skype with his brother Gary.
He is survived by his wife Joan of forty-four years. His daughter Cathy His brother Gary and Ann Passberger, his sister Mary in Germany, and one granddaughter Karissa. and many nieces/nephews and cousins.
Dementia might have taken his memory, but it did not take his hardheadedness or his sarcastic wittiness. His presence will be dearly missed. There will be no services held as to his request to be cremated.
