Mrs. Helen Kathryn West Baxter, 72 of Lake City, passed away on April 22, 2015. She was born in Lake City to the late George Emory and Juanita Pope West and was raised in the Lake City and Gainesville area. Mrs. Baxter retired from CSX Railroad with over 37 years of employment. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, vacationing at the beach, bowling, clogging, going to the salon and attending gospel sings. She loved spending time with her family, especially her son, granddaughter and her numerous pets.

Survivors include her son, Troy Joseph Baxter (Tracy), Lake City; two brothers, Harry Joseph West, Jacksonville and George Emory West, Jr., Lake City; her granddaughter, Bailee Kathryn Baxter Walker (Patrick) and great grandson, Wyatt Lee Walker Baxter.

Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. W.C. Thomas officiating.
