Helen McRay was born on April 9, 1933.  She quietly transitioned from her temporary residence to her eternal, forever home early Monday morning, April 29, 2024. Helen and her husband moved to Lake City, FL in 1976, and this has been her home for the past 48 years.  Forty-eight years seems like a long time to some, but actually very brief when you consider she is now in her permanent home with the Lord for ETERNITY.

Helen did not have college degrees hanging on the wall, but instead she had God's grade on her life.  Her contribution to this world was significant as she was truly an exemplary PROVERBS 31 Woman. Helen McRay, the devout servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she faithfully served all of her adult life.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Helen McRay was the McRay Matriarch who will always be remembered, missed and loved by all.

She is survived by her children, Donna Whitley (Hal) of Lake City, and Son, Tony McRay of Lake City; grandchildren, Casey McRay, Michael (Chelsea) McRay, Matthew (Chelsea) McRay, Donovan Whitley & Suzi Isaac; great grandchildren,  Hannah McRay, Jacob McRay, Cameron McRay, Cole McRay, Olivia Whitley, Mason Whitley & Kayden Isaac and her siblings, Walden (Ina) Atkinson &  Diana (Jimmy) Norvell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert & Faye Adkinson; husband, Don McRay; three Children, Vicky McRay, Gerald McRay & Robbin McRay; and her brother Billy Atkinson.

A funeral service for Mrs. McRay will be conducted on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Gateway Baptist Church.
