June 5, 1926 – March 5, 2013
Harry Charles Krug Sr., 86, passed away, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Lake City V.A. Medical Center. He was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to the late Otto and Cecelia (Lowendowski) Krug. He has lived in Live Oak for the past 13 years. He served his country faithfully, first with the United States Navy and then with the United States Army during World War II.
He retired from the Allegheny-Ludlum Steel Corporation after working from 1950 until 1988, where he was an electric overhead crane operator. He was a caring and giving man who was always willing to help those in need, loved talking to people and would quickly speak his mind about something but was an excellent listener as well. He liked being outdoors hunting, fishing, and working in the garden as well as working with his hands making birdhouses and clocks. He was a faithful servant to his church, Mt. Olive Baptist, and liked to be the first one to Sunday School Class. He was a proud member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kathy Krug Burgess, and his four legged friends Snoopy & Molly.
Survivors include his sons, Harry C. Krug Jr. and Karl Krug; daughter, Sharon Krug Horner; caretaker of 13 years, Bernice Woods and her son, Tommy; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on March 8, 2013 at
Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Wally Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening, March 7,2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
