Graham Glenn Anthony, 85, died on September 30, 2026, with his loving wife Beverly by his side, just as she had been nearly every day of their over 55 years of marriage. Graham was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor, mentor, and educator, and will be greatly missed by many.
Graham was born on November 10, 1940, in Marion County, Georgia. He eventually moved to Columbus, Georgia, where he met Beverly Potter. Graham and Beverly married, and then settled and built their lives in Lake City, Florida, developing deep relationships and becoming fixtures in the community.
Graham lived a wonderful, long, full life, outliving multiple prognoses over the last two decades by what seemed sheer determination and desire to keep enjoying all that life had to offer. His greatest love was for Beverly, and together they enjoyed a lifetime of adventure.
Graham was a man of many talents and interests. He loved the outdoors and activities like boating and skiing in the fresh air. He relished time with family and friends in the North Georgia mountains, hiking the trails and enjoying the beauty of nature. When family or friends had questions about identifying or caring for plants, Graham was the first one they’d call. He grew beautiful gardens and was a devoted member of the Daylily and Camilia Societies. Working in his yard brought him peace.
Graham also loved and was a big supporter of the arts. His friends and family all have stories of being introduced to certain music or art by Graham, with him frequently inviting others to concerts and shows or giving them a tape or disc they needed to listen to. He was a long-time volunteer with the Gainesville Orchestra, where you could often find him and Beverly serving behind the bar.
Graham was an avid traveler, and loved exploring new places with Beverly, making friends everywhere they went. He was a kind, devoted friend and neighbor who was quick to see the needs of others and to quietly take care of those needs, without being asked or seeking recognition.
Graham was inquisitive and a lifelong learner, obtaining degrees from Georgia Southern University, Emory University, the University of Alabama, and Auburn University. In his professional life, Graham faithfully served the students at Lake City Community College (now Florida Gateway), helping them reach their full potential by advising on both career and life decisions.
Graham is survived by his wife, Beverly; sister, Joy Anthony Morrow; brother-in-law, Dennis Hendrix of Columbus, Georgia; nephew, Miles Hendrix (Anna) of St. Marys, Georgia; niece, Barclay Vallotton (Will) of Sandy Springs, Georgia; other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Vera Graham Anthony Penn; father, Glenn William Anthony; sisters, Miriam Williams, Martha Denker, and Emily Mullis; brother, Perry Anthony; and sister-in-law, Carol Hendrix.
A celebration of Graham’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Lake City, Florida. The family will greet visitors immediately after in the Church’s fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to The Foundation of Florida, Gateway College, 149 SE College Place, Lake City, Florida 32025, or another charity of your choosing, in memory of Graham.
