Glory Ann Cantrell, 79 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Gainesville.  She was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of two daughters, to the late Leonard and Anna Angel Smith.  Mrs. Cantrell was a graduate of McKenzie High School class of 1961.  She furthered her education at Wayne State University earning her bachelor degree in 1964.  Mrs. Cantrell had made Lake City her home for the past 24 years having previously been a longtime resident of Wayne Michigan.  She loved music, playing the violin, piano and singing.  In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, going to Disney and above all else, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Eleanor Simpson; her brother-in-law, Donald Simpson, Sr.; and two nephews, Donald Simpson, Jr. and David Simpson.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Henry E. Cantrell, Lake City; her children, Daniel Joseph Cantrell (Michelle), Michigan, Deborah Ruth Wass (Curt), Wayne, MI, David Henry Cantrell, Lake City and Dawn Ann Slocum (Tom), Edwardsberg, MI; seven grandchildren, Shirley, Stephanie, Daniel Jr., Sidney, Eric, Danielle and Samantha; eight great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Dale Simpson, Suwannee County, FL.

A memorial service honoring Mrs. Cantrell's life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church of Suwannee County, 17077 SW Sabre Ave., Lake City, FL 32024, with Bro. Alex Gonzales officiating.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM
