Glenn Dale "Gil" Gilmer of Lake City Florida passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, after complications from pneumonia with his wife Betty June Foster Gilmer, and family at his side.

Glenn was born June 17, 1938, in Carroll County, Missouri.  His parents were Amos Jeff Gilmer and Anna Bell Bullock Gilmer Forsberg.  His father passed away in 1944.  His stepfather, John R. Forsberg, joined the family in 1948.  Glenn was a 1956 graduate of Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kansas.  Glenn served with the US Navy from 1957 to 1962 as an Aviation Electrician.  While stationed in Jacksonville he met Betty June Foster.  They were married on August 23, 1958.  Glenn and Betty had children, Kathy, Lisa, Scott, and Bryan.

Glenn and Betty lived in Topeka, KS after he completed his service where he worked for Kansas Power and Light as a lineman until they moved to Wellborn, FL in early 1965.  Glenn found work at Occidental Chemical (currently Nutrien) as a line crew member to build power lines in the mine.  While waiting for line work to begin he worked as a prospector.  Gil, as he was better known at work, served the mine as an electrician, electrical supervisor, and electrical superintendent and eventually retired as Maintenance Manager over the mine and mobile maintenance groups in May of 2001.

Glenn was dedicated to his family.  He kept in contact with his Kansas and Missouri family with annual trips back to maintain close connections.  Glenn served many years as a deacon at the Lake City Church of Christ serving as a devoted Christian and an example of kindness and devotion.
