IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Williams
Richardson, Jr.
August 28, 1932 – March 22, 2025
George Williams Richardson, Jr.
George W. Richardson, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 22, 2025. George was born in Jacksonville, FL to Dr. George W. and Sarah Morris Richardson on August 28, 1932. Graduating from Landon High School and attending the University of Florida, George briefly served in the Air Force and began a successful career in the dairy farming industry, founding Richardson's Dairy in 1954, in Sanderson, FL. In 1957, he married Carol "Cookie" Dean Turknett and moved to their family farm in Wellborn, FL. After living in Jacksonville and Keystone Heights for several years they moved to Lake City in 1990, and back to Wellborn in 2003.
A licensed commercial and helicopter pilot, George loved flying everyday to work and taking his family on many trips. George was President of the Florida Dairy Farmers Inc. in the early 1980's and retired in 1989. He and Cookie spent most their retirement traveling in their motorhome, visiting 49 states and the Canadian Provinces. George was most content living on the farm watching wildlife and sitting beside Cookie in the evenings watching Jeopardy. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Lake City for many years, living a life full of faith, and loving the Lord every day of his life. George was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Cookie, in June of 2024. He is survived by his sons, George III (Carolyn), and Curtis, daughter and caregiver Linda. Grandchildren Sarah (Robert) Gens, George IV, George Robert, Wyatt, Elizabeth (Michael) Pattillo, and Carson. Great granddaughters Olivia and Audrey Gens. Niece Karen (Robert) Briggs, and nephew Kenneth Cuyler. Special friends Helena Powers and Lisa and Pat Mote.
The family would like to thank his caregivers Darlene and Carol, and his Haven Hospice nurse Amanda for their love and compassion.
As per his request there will be no graveside service, but the family plans to hold a memorial reception honoring both George and Cookie in the near future.
