George Irving Hines, Jr., age 78, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023. He was born in Saco, Maine on January 29, 1945 to the late George Irving Hines and Shirley Irene Sawyer Hines. He has made Lake City his home since 1985; and retired from the US Navy as a Jet Mechanic in 1981. He also worked for the Florida Department of Correction for ten years, retiring in 1995. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, he was on the Admiral's golf team in the Navy. He was also a member of the Lake City Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post 57. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hines.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Irene Hines; brothers, Bill Hines (Merle) and Jesse Caruthers (Liz); and his sister, Janis Caruthers Solomon (Tom).

Per Mr. Hines wishes, no services will be held. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
