Gary Warren Hillhouse

Gary Warren Hillhouse, 72 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at his home in Lake City. He was born in Lake City, Florida, the youngest of five children, to the late Lawrence Leroy Hillhouse and Estelle Elizabeth Alford Hillhouse. Mr. Hillhouse was raised in Jasper and was a graduate of Hamilton County High School. He worked for 41 years with Occidental, now Nutrien, in White Springs from 1974 to 2015. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, model trains and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond LeRoy Hillhouse and Wayne Henry Hillhouse; and his loving wife of over 20 years, Susan Clark Hillhouse.

Survivors include his children, Karrie Smith (Greg), Gary Hillhouse II, Fae Ross (Jason), Rae Thompson (Chris), Kae Bailey (Jason) and Shae Moultrie (John); grandchildren, Jadon Smith (Kara), Jonathan Smith, Madison Smith, Malaki Hillhouse, Kale Hillhouse, Emma Ross, Parker Ross, Spencer Ross, Daisy Thompson, Langston Partin and Danny Partin; great grandchildren, Jadon Alvan Smith, Jr. and Bennet Hendrix; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Hillhouse will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 4:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Mr. Harry Joiner officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
