Obituary

Mrs. Freddie Mae Johnson, 92, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 4, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born in Lake City on August 28, 1932 to the late Fred Harper and Ida Feagle Harper. She worked for over 20 years with Edgley Construction and also volunteered with the Stillwaters Nursing Facility in Lake City for over 26 years. She was a very active and involved member of Christ Central, where she did many mission trips. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with the Kay's Travel group, where she enjoyed riding camels and even elephants. Her most fondest and proud memory of her travel group though, was being baptized in the Jordan River. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Hiram Elisha Johnson in 1992; two sisters, Margaret "Tootie" Coates & Gladys Skinner; and her brother, J.B. "Buddy" Harper.

She is survived by her sons, Danny Ray Johnson (Nanette) and Darrell Johnson, both of Lake City; and her sister, Lillie "Bell" Lopez of Lake City. Three grandchildren, Autumn Whittington, Donovan Johnson and Danny Gable along with four great-grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Christ Central with Pastor Lonnie Johns officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 AM prior to the service at the church.
