Frank Theodore Roush went home to be with his Savior on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in the Serenity Place hospice unit of the Lake City VA Hospital. He was born on September 2, 1918 and lived an incredible life for 98 years. His loving wife, Evelyne Newbury Roush, predeceased him on March 21, 2001. They were married on July 3, 1942. He is survived by two sons, Lawrence Robert Roush (spouse: Susan Newcomer Roush) of Live Oak, FL and William Robin Roush (spouse: Teresa Hall Roush) of Gainesville, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ted Roush (Tina), Allison Long (Cleve), Timothy Roush (Tanna), Mandy Ronchetto (Matt), and Eryn Austin (Chris) and 18 great-grandchildren. He was a WWII veteran serving as a corpsman in the South Seas (Philippines and New Guinea). He served as a five-day-per-week volunteer at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Lake City, FL for more than 33 years, accumulating more than 24,900 hours in service. The staff there loved him and was honored to serve him during the last 6 months of his life. Mr. Roush was known for his quick wit, he never met a stranger. He was a great storyteller and loved using card tricks to teach values lessons to others. He loved working with young people and was still chaperoning youth retreats and mission trips until well into his 80's. He was a Christ-follower for more than 65 years and spent his life sharing the Gospel with others. His family and friends rejoice that he is with Jesus, but will greatly miss him here.
A memorial service for Mr. Roush will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Lake City V.A. Medical Center Auditorium (619 S Marion Ave. Lake City, Fl., 32025) with Chaplin Larry Kendrick officiating.
