Obituary

Frances Arlene Jackson Akerman, 83, of Lake City, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Solaris Healthcare of Lake City, after a brief illness. She was born in Lake City on December 13, 1940 to the late William T. "Bill" Jackson and Leta Annette Keen Jackson. She was a 1958 graduate of Columbia High School and then attended the Lake City Community College and later Stetson University. She worked for the Federal Railroad Administration for a number of years, but she was most proud of her accomplishment working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Publisher. She was of the Assembly of God faith, and in her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, working in her yard, and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Charles H. Akerman and three of her siblings Billie Ann Jackson Sova, Theo Jackson and Ken Jackson; and her three nieces, Jodi Jackson Wood, Andi Jackson White, Lori Jackson Williams.

She is survived by her sister, Rhetta A. Jackson Mayfield of Arkansas, Sister-in-Laws, Sylvia S. Jackson Williams and Janice Mott Jackson; and her nieces and nephew, Rhonda Jackson Harrington (Sonny), April Jackson Wood (Harry), Robbie Pope Thompson and Sam Keen Jackson, Jr. (Mandi); along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Akerman will be conducted on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Fred O. Gaylard, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow.
