Eston Leroy "Roy" Simmons

Eston Leroy “Roy” Simmons, 59, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2026 with his family by his side, after an extended illness. Roy was a life-long resident of Lake City, the son of the late Eston Edgar Simmons and Gwenette Meads Jenkins Simmons. He worked for the better part of 25 years as a Concrete Finisher and was of the Pentecostal faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football cheering on his Miami Hurricanes & watching NASCAR where he was an avid Mark Martin fan. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Timmy Yates and his sister, Renee Mickle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Deann Simmons of Lake City; sons, Michael Shawn Simmons and Patrick William Simmons (Echo Douglas) both of Lake City; and his daughter, Jannie Nicole Yates (Tim) of Lake City. One brother, Allen Simmons (Amy) of Alabama along with six grandchildren, Emily Yates, Thomas Yates, Dalton Persyns, Timmy Yates, III, Kaila Yates and Kailee Yates also survive.

A funeral service for Mr. Simmons will be conducted on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Carl Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday evening, August 28, 2026 at the funeral home.
