Elsie Mae Huddleston, 89, of Lake City, FL, went to her heavenly home early Saturday morning, October 8, 2022. She was born in Ripley, MS, on June 19, 1933, and was a devoted wife to her high school sweetheart, Andy Huddleston, for 69 years. They were married on December 26, 1952. They moved to Lake City, FL, in December of 1971. Elsie loved The Lord Jesus and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church since 1972. She faithfully served The Lord as a teacher over the past 35-plus years to countless 3-year-olds at Parkview Baptist until she had to stop due to the pandemic. She was an Avon representative for more than 40 years and Elsie loved to bowl and visit with her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Overa Yancey; one brother, Jim Yancey and two sisters, Leola Yancey and Dolly Murphy.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Andy Huddleston, her three sons, Terry (Nancy) of Branford, Jay (Shirley) of Tarpon Springs, Ken of Altamonte Springs, two brothers, Fagan Yancey and Willie Yancey, one sister, Marilyn (Benny)Harrell, six grandchildren, Kelley Huddleston, Kaleb Huddleston, Ashley (Aaron) Kibler, Joel (Sarah) Huddleston, Drew Huddleston, and Edie Huddleston, four great-grandchildren, Rylen Huddleston, Justin Huddleston, Kenzie Kibler, Bentley Kibler and one other great grandchild on the way.
A graveside service was held for immediate family on Sunday, October 9, at Gateway-Forest Lawn gardens. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at Parkview Baptist Church at 4:00 on Sunday, October 30, 2022. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Parkview Baptist children's program.
