Ellen Mae Shelley, 67 of Lake City, FL, died peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville due to complications with her courageous battle with cancer.  Mrs. Shelley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Arthur Fulton "Sam" Gallagher, II and Elizabeth Jane McClafferty Gallagher.  Ellen was a retired LPN who had served most of her career time in caring for the elderly at local nursing homes.  She had a truly generous spirit and caring for others was the cornerstone of her life.  Mrs. Shelley was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Richard Shelley and one brother, Edward Blair Gallagher.

She was the beloved wife of Richard W. Shelley; two sons, Daniel (Rachel), Chris (Melissa); cherished sister of Judith Gallagher Evans and Arthur Fulton Gallagher, III; devoted grandmother of Kaila, Riley, Ryan, Gavin and Lily.   She was also survived by numerous devoted nieces and nephews, cousins and cherished friends.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Epiphany Catholic Church, 254 SW Malone St, Lake City, FL 32025.  Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at the Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central Cemetery at 4100 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL 32606.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Care of North Florida.
