Ellen "Laverne" Masse, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Laverne was born in Opa-Locka Florida on February 13, 1946 to the late Lee and Byrdie Crenshaw. She is survived by her life partner Byron "Buck" Mathias, Sister Elizabeth "Betty Jo" Garces and multiple close relatives as well as a strong social network of friends within her community.

Laverne spent the majority of her adult life working in the food and beverage industry in South Florida; followed by several years of customer service in Lake City. She was very much a "people person" and enjoyed making people laugh and feel included. She will be terribly missed.

A memorial service for Ms. Masse will be conducted on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home.
