Obituary

Mr. Jim Steinmann, 77, of Lake City, Florida, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Lake City Medical Center. He was born in Catskill, New York, to the late Edward G and Louise G. Steinmann. Jim graduated from Duanesburg Central School, Duanesburg, New York. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, served in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge on January 25, 1957, and continued to serve in the reserve until May 17, 1962. He married Loretta Steinmann on February 16, 1979. He worked for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation until moving to Florida, and then worked for Suburban Propane Gas Company. He retired from the job he enjoyed the most, driving for Terry Dicks Trucking Company. To his family of truck drivers, he was known as "Casey Jones". Jim was an avid reader and was seldom seen without a book in his hand or pocket. He enjoyed woodworking and especially delighted in making things with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta; daughters, Lori Mirandilla (Rene') od Bradenton, FL and Debra Mansell (Mike) of Gainesville, FL; sister, Susan Snyder (Gary) of Crandall, GA; three precious grandchildren, Mitchell, Morgan, & Madison; two aunts, Lois Cole and Mary Lloyd; one uncle, Harry Goodson; a niece, a nephew, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Edenfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to any charity of your choice.
