Edna Doris Taylor Stalvey

On Sunday, April 17, 2011, Edna Doris Taylor Stalvey, passed away peacefully at age 71, in the Kindred Hospital of North Florida, in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Ms. Stalvey was born in Homerville, Georgia, moving with her family to Lake City at an early age. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Tillman Taylor and Dollie Mae Jordan Taylor.

Ms. Stalvey had resided in Lake City for the majority of her life. She is retired from the Exxon Oil Company of Valdez, Alaska, where she was employed for many years as a Food Service Coordinator. She was a graduate of the Merchant Marine Hazmat Course, and a graduate of the State of Florida Correctional Officer Course.

She loved being outdoors and fishing when she could. She was a homemaker and mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who enjoyed being with her family members.

Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Ann Stalvey Mancil, Parents, brothers, William F. "Bill" (Leotta) Taylor, and Paul B. Taylor.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Easley of Lake City, FL, Barbara Clara (Ali) Afzal of Alpharetta, GA, Julie Cooper of Lake City, FL; son, Samuel Tildon (Virginia) Stalvey IV of Lake City, FL; sisters, Esta Mae (Roy) Bedenbaugh, Frances Ash and brothers, James R. (Betsy) Taylor all of Lake City, FL and Bennie R. (Joan) Taylor of Live Oak, FL; ten grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2011 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment services will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the funeral home.
