Edna Alice "Sandy" Moffitt Newman, 78 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City.  She was born and raised in Jacksonville to the late Paul Maxwell Moffitt and Alice Jewel Jones Moffitt.  Mrs. Newman had made her home in Lake City for the past year having previously been a longtime resident of Branford.  She was a member of the San Juan Catholic Mission in Branford.  Mrs. Newman served for many years as a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Edward Laverne Newman in August of 2022; and siblings, James, Annie Ruth, Sarah and Irene.

Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Newman, Branford; four grandchildren, Sierah Goodin and Skyler Goodin both of Bell, and Connor Kirby and Parker Kirby both of Branford; and five great-grandchildren, Paisley Pope, Tucker Hobby, Mavis Hobby, Luke Ordway and Levi Ordway.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 12:00 Noon in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Bishop Richie Miles Officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home.
